Jagan hits out at TDP over charges against YSR

Ongole, September 14: The war of words between TDP leaders and Congress MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy continued today with the latter wondering whether it was justified to make baseless allegations against Y S Rajasekhara Reddy who is no more to defend himself.

“Our beloved leader Rajasekhara Reddy has occupied a permanent place in hearts of the people because of the innovative welfare schemes he implemented. But those who do not like him and me are making baseless allegations against us. I ask, is it justified to make allegations against someone who is dead,” Jagan said.

“These attacks reflect a bad political culture. It’s OK. Rajasekhara Reddy lives in the hearts of the people. Those who are making these allegations will be washed away due to your love and affection for Rajasekhara Reddy,” he said.

Jagan was speaking at Kurichedu village in Prakasam district during his ongoing ‘Odarpu (consolation) yatra’.

The Kadapa MP was refering to the allegations of TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu that “mining mafia” plundered mineral wealth with the active support of YSR’s family.

“Sonia Gandhi is now talking about mining mafia in Karnataka, while Rahul Gandhi says he will fight like a solider for tribals in Orissa. Why don’t they do the same in Andhra Pradesh where the mining mafia is plundering national wealth with the active support of Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s family,” Naidu said here yesterday.

Meanwhile, Congress MLAs close to Jagan also hit out at Naidu over his allegations against YSR.

“It is often said that Naidu is the richest politician in India. There are allegations that he acquired properties in foreign countries. How can such a person make allegations of corruption against Rajasekhara Reddy,” Congress MLA Konda Surekha said.
