Jagan group MLAs were not threatened: Sailajanath

Hyderabad, December 07: Primary Education Minister S Sailajanath on Tuesday denied the allegations of Jagan group MLAs that the Congress party used pressure tactics and resorted to blackmail to force them to vote against the No Confidence Motion.

Talking to media persons after emerging out of meeting with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy at his Camp Office, he said that there was no truth in the allegations being levelled by the Jagan group MLAs. He said that the Congress party never resorted to pressure tactics to persuade the MLAs.

However, the Minister said that as those MLAs were elected on the `B’ form of Congress party, the high command asked the leaders to persuade them. “There is nothing wrong in asking the MLAs to vote against the No Confidence Motion introduced against Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy Government at the crucial period,” he stated. He advised the MLAs to do self-introspection before going for by-elections on YSR Congress ticket.

With the defeat of motion in the Assembly, Sailajanath said that the strength and numbers of Jagan Mohan Reddy have been exposed. He said the party would discuss about initiating disciplinary action and disqualification against Jagan group members for violating the whip on Wednesday.

Another MLA from Nellore Anam Ramnarayana Reddy asked as to why Jagan group MLAs have become mute spectators when Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu slammed former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in the House.
