Nellore, February 08: The political scenario in the district is changing fast with the PRP-Congress merger, leading to polarisation of leaders and cadre on caste and party lines.
Interestingly, the merger seems to benefit YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s group. An unsuccessful candidate in the last polls Ramireddy Prathapkumar Reddy, who has a wide following in the Kavali area, joined Jagan group and Anam Venkataramana Reddy (Nellore Rural) was also expected to follow suit as Mekapati brothers have stepped up their efforts to woo leaders into the Jagan camp. Kovur TD MLA N Prasanna Kumar Reddy has already turned a rebel.
With ZP chief K Govardhan Reddy already in J-camp along with a large chunk of ZPTCs, MPPs and sarpanchs, the group has emerged stronger.
