Jagan, followers leave for Delhi to conduct one-day fast

Hyderabad, January 09: Former Congress MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy today left for New Delhi to undertake his one-day fast to highlight the plight of farmers in Andhra Pradesh.

Accompanied by a large number of farmers and leaders loyal to him, he left for the national capital by a special train from Secunderabad here this afternoon.

Jagan would undertake the fast at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on January 11, sources said.

The objective of his fast is to highlight farmers’ plight who suffered heavily due to cyclones, untimely rains and floods over the last one year and possible adverse impact of the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal on the state.

The former Kadapa MP had held a 48-hour fast at Vijayawada last month demanding hike in compensation announced by the government for the rain-hit farmers.
