Jagan floated party for personal gains only: Danam

Accusing Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy of floating the YSR Congress Party for his personal gains, Labour Minister Danam Nagendar has taken the former to task for not releasing his party’s agenda and manifesto so far. He also said that Jagan did not launch YSR Congress Party for achievement of ideals of late chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, but only for the sake of money and power.

Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, Nagendar said that it was strange that Jagan Mohan Reddy, who initially got elected to the Lok Sabha from Kadapa on Congress ticket, had started criticizing Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi. He warned Jagan not to criticize the Congress president. He also advised the ruling party leaders not to criticize late YSR lest the people would get annoyed and keep off the party.

Danam felt that the Congress would suffer irreparable loss if the party leaders criticized late chief minister. He also said that the people would start distancing from the ruling party if the party leaders abuse late YSR. However, the party high command would decide whether the party leaders should criticize late YSR or no, he added. He also wondered that those who were elected in the wave were criticizing the departed leader. The Minister admitted that the ruling party has miserably failed in popularizing the welfare schemes to the people of the State.

Danam lashed out at Jagan Mohan Reddy for trying to vitiate YSR’s dream of making AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister in the ensuing 2014 parliamentary elections.

On the burning Telangana issue, Danam said that the party high command would take decision soon after eliciting opinions of all the concerned. He also appealed to the youth and students in the Telangana region not to resort to suicides in desperation for separate State. (NSS)
