Jagan to file nomination on April 15

Hyderabad, April 04: While the two major parties in the state – Congress and Telugu Desam – are still searching for suitable candidates to contest the Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly byelections slated for May 8, YSR Congress Party founder YS Jaganmohan Reddy has decided to file his nomination from Kadapa on April 15.

YS Vijayalakshmi, his mother and wife of the late chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, will file her nomination for the Pulivendula Assembly seat on the following day, ie April 16. The last date for filing nominations is April 18.

According to sources in the YSR Congress Party, the former MP may launch campaigning from Idupulapaya on April 6. Setting the stage for his campaigning, his fatherinlaw EC Gangi Reddy, and his paternal uncles YS Bhaskara Reddy and YS Manohar Reddy have been visiting villages to drum up support for Jagan. Till now they have concentrated on the Pulivendula Assembly constituency, meeting important leaders in all the mandals to make sure that voters stayed with YSR’s wife.

Though the Congress has not announced its candidate for Pulivendula, agriculture minister and YSR’s younger brother YS Vivekananda Reddy and his family members _ wife Sowbhagyamma, daughter Sunita, brother inlaw Sivaprakash Redy and soninlaw N Rajasekhara Reddy are meeting important leaders in the Assembly constituency and are asking them to vote for the Congress, carefully steering clear of names.

As far as the Telugu Desam is concerned, there is newfound enthusiasm in the cadres since they believe that they might benefit from the split in the Congress votes.
