Jagan embarks on a journey of consolation, defiance

Hyderabad, July 07: Brushing aside the ‘advise’ given by Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Wednesday, Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy embarked on the Falaknuma Express on a trip which could possibly change the entire political scenario in the state.

Mr Jaganmohan Reddy will reach Ichapuram in Srikakulam district from where he will resume his Odarpu Yatra on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, Mr Rosaiah had suggested to his Cabinet colleagues and MLAs that joining Mr Jaganmohan Reddy in the Odarpu Yatra would be ‘indiscipline’ and defiance of the High Command.

Mr Rosaiah further said that he had clearly told the Congress leaders not to participate in the Yatra as it did not have the Congress high command’s approval.” He added that, “If anyone violates this and takes part in the Yatra, the party will deal with them appropriately.”

Mr Rosaiah’s ‘advise’ to the leaders had the desired effect with not a single self-proclaimed YSR-turned-Jagan loyalist turning up at the Secunderabad Railway station to see Mr Jaganmohan Reddy off.

The absence of the senior Congress leaders was more than made up with cheering supports of the young MP gathered in a large number at the station.

Earlier in the day, Hyderabad MLAs D Sudheer Reddy, B Raji Reddy and K Srisailam Goud joined their colleagues from Kadapa district at Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s residence to express their support for his consolation tour.

They claimed that the Yatra is not a defiance of the High Command since it was not a party matter but a personal affair.

The MLAs further said that the high command had not directed Mr Jaganmohan Reddy to shelve plans of the resumption of the Yatra.

Congress leader A Rambabu, considered close to Jagan, said the Kadapa MP would go ahead with his yatra as announced.
