Jagan dares TDP to make eight defectors resign and contest again

Hyderabad: YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy today dared the TDP to make the eight defectors resign from their seats and get them re-elected.
Speaking after bathing the Ambedkar statue with milk on Saturday, Jagan said the TDP has no respect for the law and judiciary. He slammed the TDP for not allowing suspended YSRCP MLA Roja into the Assembly despite court orders. Jagan led the march from the Assembly to the Ambedkar statue after the Assembly was abruptly adjourned on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking at the impromptu press meet, Jaganmohan Reddy alleged that the TDP was protecting the defectors. “The TDP was misusing the office of the Speaker to protect the eight defectors. Chandrababu has admitted MLAs from YSRCP into his fold and was afraid to go to polls as he knows the people would teach him a fitting lesson. He was trying to use the Speaker’s office to save himself. If he has guts, he should make them resign and go for the polls”, he added.
Charging the ruling party with lying, the YSRCP supremo said while the government was saying that the House has unanimously passed the resolution suspending Roja for one year, the fact is that 67 YSRCP MLAs resolutely opposed it. The Leader of the Opposition said the government has scant respect for democracy. “The government was behaving in the most disrespectful manner. It has no respect for the court of law. Though the High Court has allowed Roja to attend the House, the TDP Government was not allowing her. They are not showing any respect to the women. We strongly condemn this undemocratic behaviour”, he said. “Now, the government was talking of holding a meeting of the Privileges Committee. Why was no meeting held when TDP members, including Chandrababu Naidu, used highly unparliamentary words in the House?, he asked.
The leader of the Opposition said they would boycott the Assembly on Monday and go to the High Court to highlight the contempt of court by the TDP Government. “As mark of solidarity to the judiciary, which is sought to be undermined by the TDP government, we will boycott the proceedings on Monday”, he added.
