Jagan Continues fast in Hospital despite doctors advice

YSR Congress Party President and Kadapa M P, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, whose indefinite fast in Chanchalguda Jail was foiled by the police by arresting and admitting him in Osmania Hospital late last night, continued his ordeal for the sixth day on Friday, opposing the decision to bifurcate the State.

A team of eight doctors examined Jagan and found that though his overall condition was stable, the sugar level was coming down besides the keetone level rising. The doctors felt that if he refuses even IV fluids leave alone intake of any solid food, his health might deteriorate.

Soon after his admittance in the Hospital and after a thorough checkup, the doctors impressed upon Jagan to permit them to give IV fluids for which refused stoutly. Jagan reportedly informed the doctors that he has fasted for seven days during the past and that it was only the sixth day today and that he would continue his ordeal till he achieved his goal.

Stating that his health condition was being constantly monitored and regular checks being conducted, the doctors said that they would be forced to administer him IV fluids if situation warranted.

While he was being shifted to Osmania Hospital last night, the jail and police authorities permitted his mother Vijayalaxmi, wife Bharathi, brother-in-law Bro. Anil to meet him. This morning his uncle Y.S. Vivekanada Reddy and the newly joined party leader T. Sitaram were refused permission to meet him in the hospital. Vijayamma demanded that Jagan be shifted to NIMS.

The police made elaborate and tight security arrangements in front of the hospital even as scores of Jagan supporters gathered to express their solidarity with him. In a surprise move the doctors in the hospital belonging to the Telangana region refused to treat Jagan and also demanded the authorities to shift him to any other hospital in view of the inconvenience being caused to the patients due to presence of YSRCP supporters in large number near the premises.
Jagan has been in Chanchalguda jail since May last year in a disproportionate assets case filed by the CBI (NSS).
