Hyderabad, November 08: After interrogation by the CBI, YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy has proudly said that he was called only as a witness and not accused in the OMC Case. Now it appears that the CBI is planning to make him co accused.
OMC illegal mining of Karnataka former minister Gali Janardana Reddy has taken a curious or rather serious turn after the entry of Konda Reddy, son of former Congress MLA Varadarajulu Reddy. Konda Reddy is quoted to have told the investigating agency that he was coerced by Jagan to withdraw his court case, challenging sanction of mining lease to Gali by the then YSR government.
After it interrogated Konda Reddy, CBI is reported to have come to the conclusion that Jagan had threatened him to get mining lease in favor of OMC. Now CBI is reportedly preparing to include Jagan as co-accused. It is learnt that the CBI has recorded the statement of Konda Reddy under section 160(1) of the Cr. PC. The agency has also got his statement recorded before a judge under section 164. With this move of the CBI, the noose around Jagan’s neck appears to be tightening. In the EMAAR scam, CBI has arrested Koneru Prasad, after it has recorded the statements of two witnesses under section 164, before a judge. It is being said that as the incident of Jagan allegedly threatening Konda Reddy had happened long back, CBI could not make him an accused. However, CBI is making him co-accused in the OMC case.
Meanwhile, a newspaper constantly writing news against Jagan has introduced one more character called Sasi Kumar and wrote that he was also denied mining lease by the officials of the department, as they wanted to favour Gali. The newspaper wrote a report stating that Sasi Kumar has complained to the CBI that Sri Lakshmi, the then mining secretary and Raja Gopal, Mining Development Corporation Chairman had given lot of trouble to him, as they wanted to favor Gali. He has complained that these two top authorities had suppressed the applications of all others and given all clearances to Gali in ten days, says the newspaper story.
Other interesting or incriminating facts are also coming to light as CBI started in-depth investigation into the multi-crore massive scam. The CBI has reportedly issued notices to Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao’s son Viplava Kumar and Panyam MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, who is one of the partners in a sub-contracting agency of OMC, to appear before it. It is learnt that the two would be quizzed by the CBI shortly. Another English daily has reported that CBI got important information about the involvement of some other political leaders close to Jagan in the case.
