Hyderabad, September 27: The Sakala Janula Samme, the people’s general strike, is set to intensify further with the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee announcing another schedule of protests that would last till October 11.
Addressing a press conference after the JAC meeting here on Monday, TP-JAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram announced that the agitation to achieve statehood for the Telangana region would be intensified further. As per the agitation schedule finalised by the JAC, the RTC employees would hold a massive rally on September 27. The next day, the T-activists will organise ‘Rasta Roko’ protests across the State capital. On September 29, the residences of Telangana ministers and other elected representatives would be ‘gheraod’ in protest against the power cuts.
The JAC has called for Telangana Bandh on September 30. On October 1, torch rallies would be taken out across the region and on October 2, people have been asked to boycott payments at all toll gates in the Telangana region.
The agitation would be softened from October 03 to October 08 due to Dushera festival. However, the JAC said it would conduct awareness shows during Bathukamma festival for three days from October 03.
According to Prof Kodandaram, the Telangana JAC has also decided to call for a three-day ‘Rail Roko’ agitation from October 9. He said so far, the State Government has not taken the general strike seriously. Therefore, the JAC leaders were forced to finalise another scheduled to maintain the pace of agitation seeking statehood for Telangana.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao said that now the agitation would not be halted even for a day. He claimed that the agitation has been receiving immense support from all sections of the society and therefore, it would be continue till separate Telangana is achieved. He also accused the State Government of creating artificial power crisis to defame and sabotage the Telangana agitation. He said instead of introducing power-cuts in a phased manner by starting it from domestic and industrial sectors, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy directly implemented power cuts for farmers in Telangana region.
KCR has asked the Telangana ministers and other elected representatives of the Congress party to prevail upon the Chief Minister for restoring the regular power supply in the region. He also advised the Congress leaders against visiting Delhi stating that they achieve nothing by going there. He said instead of targeting Seemandhra leaders; the Telangana activists must attack the Telangana leaders who are not supporting the general strike.
