JAC appeals to TD, Cong not to contest bypolls

Hyderabad, April 30: The Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) today appealed to Congress and the TDP not to contest the ensuing bypolls in Telangana region to pave way for re-election of those who resigned for the Telangana cause.

The MLAs had quit for the sake of Telangana.

If a contest is forced, it amounts to dividing the people of Telangana. So we appeal to the parties not to contest the bypolls, JAC chairman Kodandaram told reporters.

TJAC steering committee meeting was held here today which was attended by TRS, BJP and several other representatives from Telangana organisations.

The meeting finalised its month-long agitations scheduled for next month and the TJAC would take up seve r a l prog r a m m e s f o r strengthening its organisational structure all over the region.

TJAC would organise conventions of APSRTC and Singareni employees on May 2 and 4 respectively.

The JAC would also fight against the alleged discrimination against Telangana in the Telugu film industry. It gave a call to boycott `Komaram Puli’ in which Pavan Kalyan is playing the lead role.

The JAC has decided to organise a conference on `Telugu film industry and Telangana’ on May 16 in the state capital.

A document will be released highlighting regional discrimination in the industry on the occasion.

Kodandaram appealed to students, teachers and other sections to work for strengthening the Telangana demand during summer vacation.

He took strong objection to PCC president D Srinivas who was keen on contesting from Nizamabad constituency in the bypolls.

He said as Telangana leader Srinivas failed to present his views before the Srikrishna Committee and added that the PCC president’s decision was unethical and immoral.
