‘J-K violence left martyr’s children in desperate condition’

The two-decades of violence in Jammu and Kashmir has left the families, especially children, of police martyrs in a desperate condition, and measures to provide financial assistance to them are being taken, state police today said.

“Violence left the families of our martyrs especially the children in a desperate condition and the Organisation is
committed to provide a succor in the form of financial assistance to these families,” Director General of Police (DGP) Kuldeep Khoda said.

hoda said various steps are being taken for the welfare of the families of police martyrs and the serving personnel,
scholarships are provided to their wards making them able to continue their studies and excel in different fields of life.

The DGP sanctioned scholarships over Rs 3.20 lakhs in favour of 67 school going children of police personnel. The
wards include children of those police personnel, who laid down their lives for bringing peace in the state and protected human lives and public property, sources said.

“Free education and hostel facilities are provided to martyr’s wards in Police Public Schools established in twin
capital cities of the state,” DGP said addressing a meeting of police officers here today.

State Police has been fighting the menace of terrorism for over two decades now in which large number of our brave
jawans and officers laid down their lives, he said.

It was due to their supreme sacrifices that the security situation in the state has evolved positively and the
sufferings of people on account of violence unleashed by the terrorists have come down, Khoda said.
