Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India]: In a major development, the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council has distributed cricket kits, uniforms and tracksuits to paraplegic players of the Para Cricket Club.
The team comprising of 16 youngsters was given uniforms, tracksuits and other things mandatory for playing cricket.
“Prime Minister’s initiatives to promote Para Olympics is visible everywhere. Jammu and Kashmir Government has made efforts to see these players as an asset. We have started equipping them,” said Waheed Para, the secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council.
“Amir as player has shown us that nothing is impossible in this world. Cricket has become my passion. Waheed sir gave us kits which we had never seen before,” said Shakir Ahmad, a player.
The paraplegic cricketers also played a friendly match which was appreciated by all the persons present there. They appreciated this step taken by the sports council.
The team will be participating in a national tournament in Hyderabad next month. (ANI)
