Srinagar, June 30: Baramulla remained on the edge on Tuesday after the death toll in the recent spate of violence in the Jammu and Kashmir valley town reached two.
Curfew continued in the town after violent clashes between protestors and police on Monday. One person was killed and 12 others injured in the clashes of which one died later on Monday.
A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
The violence broke out in the north Kashmir town after a Muslim woman complained of sexual harassment at a police station where she had gone to file a complaint. The police, however, denied the charges.
Curfew in Sopore
Meanwhile, curfew was clamped in Sopore as well after reports of disruptive activities in the valley town.
Protesting the alleged police atrocities, the separatists have given a three-day shutdown call in the valley.
Omar refuses to comment
Anti-India protests had raged across the valley, after the bodies of two Kashmiri Muslim women were found on the May 29. Locals accuse the security forces of abducting, raping and killing the two women.
Caught in a delicate position, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah refused to answer any questions regarding the incidents in Baramulla and Shopian.
