Jammu, January 21: Jammu and Kashmir government today said all steps were being taken to propagate the official language of the state, Urdu along with Hindi and English.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said measures were afoot to post Urdu teachers in the primary schools of the state that would give a boost to the language.
Speaking after releasing a book on collection of Urdu poems, “Warood” by Khalid Karar, here at a function, Omar said that the works of poets and writers infuse enthusiasm in readers and encourage the propagation of the language.
Omar said poets and writers have contributed a lot in the past and in the present to develop the Urdu language.
Speaking on the occasion legislator Mohammas Yusuf Taing narrated the role of Urdu in binding the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
