The Canadian High Commission has expressed its heartfelt condolences to both India and Pakistan following the massive floods that has affected the Himalayan region of Jammu and Kashmir, claiming scores of lives and leaving thousands displaced on both sides across the Line of Control (LoC).
“On behalf of all Canadians, we wish to express heartfelt sympathy to those affected by disastrous flooding and send our condolences to the grieving families. Canada welcomes the openness at this time by the Governments of India and Pakistan to work together in disaster management. Natural calamities know no boundaries and the need to prepare for these types of challenges collectively is a desire of all our citizens,” said Canada’s Acting High Commissioner to India, Jess Dutton, and High Commissioner to Pakistan, Greg Giokas, in a joint statement regarding the floods in India and Pakistan.
The High Commissions of Canada to India and Pakistan are providing consular assistance to Canadians as required.
