J-K: DGP S.P. Vaid hails Pulwama encounter bravehearts

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India]: Director General of Police (DGP), Jammu and Kashmir, S.P. Vaid on Sunday said that the bravehearts of the Pulwama encounter played an excellent role in evacuating families affected in Saturday’s encounter.

“Our boys did a great job in rescuing 36 families affected in the Pulwama encounter. Although they had performed well in the past too, but this type of incident happened after a long time,” DGP SP Vaid told ANI.

He further said this was an attempt by the agencies to send foreign militants like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).

“Senior officers of the valley supervised the operation. DIG Anantnag supervised the sector commander of the Army and a para unit of the Army was used to flash out the terrorists,” he added.

Eight security personnel, including four CRPF soldiers and four policemen, were killed in the encounter between the security forces and fidayan terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district yesterday.

In the massive gunfight, three terrorists were also gunned down.

The terrorists had carried out a suicide attack on District Police Lines in south Kashmir’s Pulwama.

While Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti strongly condemned the killing of jawans, Union Defence Minister Arun Jaitley condoled the death of the personnel killed in the encounter. (ANI)
