J-K cricketer arrested in Bangalore for carrying RDX

Bangalore, October 17: A Jammu and Kashmir cricketer was detained by the Bangalore police after explosive detectors found traces of RDX in his kit bag on Saturday.

Pervez Rassol, an under-22 CK Nayudu cricket tournament, was staying at the Karnataka State Cricket
Association (KSCA) complex in the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Police sources said the young cricketer was being questioned to find out if he had brought RDX in the city or his bag was earlier used to transfer the explosive.

Sources said the state police have already sent a request to its counterparts in Jammu and Kashmir to do a background check on the cricketer.

Am official from the Jammu and Kashmir cricket Association said that nothing has been found from the two cricketers, picked up by the police for questioning.

“Our boys had gone to play some matches in Cuttack. From Cuttack they went to Bangalore yesterday. Before going to hotel they got accommodation through Karnataka Association in the stadium itself. Before going to stadium they were checked (this morning).”

“The two boys had gone to police station. One is Pervez Rassol and other is Mehrazuddin. They are saying nothing has been found from them,” the official told a TV Channel.
