J J Hospital’s security to be outsourced

Mumbai, March 25: Maharashtra government is planning to increase the security at government-run J J Hospital here by outsourcing it, in the backdrop of an incident of molestation last December.

Three staff members were found to be involved in the incident, where a female relative of a patient was molested.

“The incident took place in one of the offices. Though the state government’s security personnel are at the hospital, there are not enough guards to be stationed outside every department…The government would outsource security to private companies,” said Minister for Medical Education, Dr Vijaykumar Gavit, in the Legislative Council today.

MLC Ramesh Shendge had asked if any security measures were taken after the incident, and what action was taken against the culprits.
