Hyderabad, August 07: I Venkateswara Rao has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of NTR Health University at Vijayawada. Governor ESL Narasimhan, who is also the chancellor of the university, appointed Venkateswara Rao for a term of three years with effect from the date of assumption of office.
Venkateswara Rao, who hails from Kakinada, completed his postgraduation in general surgery and worked as assistant professor in medicine at Rangaraya Medical College in Kakinada. He also worked as additional director of medical education and later became director of medical education. After his retirement in 2007, Venkateswara Rao went on to play crucial role in implementation of the prestigious Arogyasri scheme. He will succeed AV Krishnam Raju whose term ended in June itself.
