Chennai, February 14: Union Minister P Chidambaram tonight described the bomb blast at the German Bakery restaurant in Pune as a deliberate plot to target foreigners and appealed to the people to maintain calm and the media not to speculate.
Talking to newspersons at the airport on arrival from Tiruchirapalli, the Home Minister said all the information received so far points to a deliberate plot to target foreigners.
Stating that he was deeply distressed at the incident, Mr Chidambaram said, ”we have sensitised the state government. It is being investigated. Lets wait. Its a sad event.” He appealed to the people not to panic and requested the media not to speculate as the government would put out official statements once in six hours. The centre had alerted the state government after central intelligence agencies warned that terrorist might strike at Kabada, but the incident had taken place a few meteres away, he said.
