It’s 2-way trade; Malaysian PM on India considering trade curbs

Kuala Lumpur: Reacting to the reports that India is considering trade curbs on Malaysia over criticism of actions in Jammu and Kashmir, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has said that his government will monitor the trade situation with India.

According to reports, in retaliation to Mr Mahathir’s speech at the United Nations in September when he said India had “invaded and occupied” Jammu and Kashmir, New Delhi is looking for ways to limit palm oil imports and other goods from Malaysia.

However, Malaysia said it did not receive “anything official” from India. Malaysian President said his government will “study the impact of the action taken by India”

NDTV with reference to a report quoted Mahathir Mohamad as saying, “they are exporting goods to Malaysia too It’s not just one-way trade, it’s two-way trade.”
