Italian police arrest 14 in crackdown on child pornography

Rome, June 20: Italian police have arrested 14 people and placed more than 250 under investigation in a major crackdown on online child pornography, Italian media reported Saturday.

The police operation was being carried out countrywide and involved the search of hundreds of homes, according to the reports. Authorities in Catania and Sicily were leading the investigation.

Those arrested had been found in possession of pornographic material that included cruel and violent scenes involving children, the reports said. Some of the material had been downloaded from a paedophile website with a server based in Germany.
