Bangkok, May 19: An Italian journalist has been killed in a gun battle between Thai military forces and anti-government “Red Shirt” protestors in Thailand’s volatile capital of Bangkok.
“An Italian man was shot and died before arriving at the hospital,” Police Hospital Director Jongjet Aoajenpong told AFP on Wednesday.
“He is a journalist, he was shot in the stomach,” he added.
Two Thai protesters were also killed in Wednesday’s clashes. The shooting erupted after government troops broke through barricades built on the perimeter of the Red Shirts’ protest camp in central Bangkok.
