Mumbai, January 14: Four persons, including an Italian national, were injured in an accident involving three cars on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link on Wednesday afternoon.
First, a Maruti Swift and a Maruti Esteem collided head-on around 2.15 pm. Shortly after that, another Swift coming from Worli rammed into the stationary Swift. Incidentally, this is the second accident on the sea link this year.
One Mr Natrajan (first name not known yet), who was going from Worli to Bandra in a Swift (MH-02-AL-4151) lost control over the vehicle and collided into an Esteem (MH-02-WA-4136) which was coming from Bandra. Natrajan suffered some minor injuries.
Three people in the Esteem — driver Ronny Lobo, 47, Deepak Thakurani, 55, and his Italian friend, Alex Costa, 45, — also sustained injuries. Lobo fractured his right leg, while Thakurani’s nose was broken. Both have been admitted to Hinduja Hospital.
Costa, on the other hand, was allowed to go after getting first aid at the hospital. Sunil Gupta, 44, who was driving the car that rammed into Natrajan’s vehicle, also sustained some minor injuries.
Senior inspector Bharat Worlikar of the Worli police station said: “We have registered a case against Natrajan for rash driving and causing grievous injuries to others.”
