Kolkata, August 18: With Union Home Minister P Chidambaram having made a pointed reference to the absence of political representation from Bengal at a security meeting in Delhi, CPI, a ruling Left Front constituent, today said it was not proper to have sent the home and chief secretaries.
“When Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacherjee could not go, a responsible minister should have been sent to the conference of chief ministers on internal security convened by the Prime Minister,” CPI state secretary Manju Kumar Mazumdar said here.
It was not proper to have sent the chief secretary and the home secretary to represent the state, the CPI leader said.
Mazumdar said there was no word that the chief minister would not be able to make it to the conference at the Left Front meeting here on August 16.
The chief minister could not attend the meeting reportedly because of fever.
