Music maestro A R Rahman says he had a beautiful experience working on his maiden project with late filmmaker Yash Chopra, whose film ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ will release this Diwali . “The experience of working with Yash Chopra is very beautiful. He was a very kind and an interesting person,” Rahman told reporters after arriving here to perform for the first time in Madhya Pradesh on the occasion of the state’s 64th Foundation day tomorrow. Rahman has composed music for the Shahrukh-Katrina starrer, which incidentally is his first film with the ‘King of Romance’ Chopra. The legendary filmmaker passed away on October 21. The music director also said he was happy getting two Oscars and five nominations for the prestigious Academy Awards. However, he is not concerned with the awards as such. Rahman said he was overwhelmed by the kind of response and feedback he had received from his fans and the people of Madhya Pradesh. When asked about Sufi touch in his music, he said that it is not there in all the films but only where it was required. He also said he is very much inspired by the folk music of the country. Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Culture and Public Relations Minister Laxmikant Sharma said the state was honoured to invite Rahman for the Foundation Day function tomorrow to whom it had earlier bestowed the State Government’s prestigious National Lata Mangeshkar award. The State Foundation Day is being celebrated in Bhopal as well as district headquarters with the government earmarking Rs five crore budget for the purpose, the minister added. PTI
