Erode (TN), March 12:Over Rs 11.50 crore was allegedly seized from the house of a person at Kasipalayam near here, officials said today.
Income tax officials raided the house today after District Collector T Soundiah informed them that flying squad personnel had allegedly seized Rs 50 lakh of unaccounted money on Wednesday from two persons, one of whom was the house owner, Jeevandham, who is into real estate business.
The model code of conduct is in force in the state following the announcement of the April 13 Assembly elections.
The IT department is investigating.
Meanwhile, Police seized Rs 8.50 lakh from a car plying from Bhavani to Kavindapady last night. The car was impounded and officials are questioning three persons, who were traveling in the car.
