Patna, Sept. 17 : The Department of Income Tax has set up air intelligence units at the Patna and Gaya international airports respectively to place a check on the flow of illegal money during the Bihar elections.
A department statement said that income tax sleuths would be present at the areas where baggage is screened on X- ray machine inside the airport terminal. Registered baggage, cabin baggage of those taking choppers and planes will also be screened.
Additional Chief Electoral Officer R. Lakshmanan was quoted, as saying that air intelligence units (AIUs) have also been set up in Ranchi Varanasi, Bagdogra and Kolkata.
The (AIUs) at metro airports, including New Delhi, are functional, the department said. (ANI)
