Hyderabad: The IT department is conducting sudden raids at the residence of Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy today, reports said.
Reacting to the raids, opposition party Congress condemned the raids and termed it as “political vendetta” by the ruling TRS in the state and the BJP at the Centre, Telangana Today reports.
A Revanth Reddy was recently appointed as a working president for Congress in Telangana. The Jubilee Hills police are reported to have deployed force to avoid any incident in view of IT raids at the president’s residence.
An I-T department senior official confirmed the raids but did not reveal any details to what triggered the sudden raid.
According to reports, the city police had earlier issued a notice to the Congress leader and former MLA seeking his appearance as part of investigations in a case relating to alleged irregularities committed by office-bearers of a Co-operative Housing Society in 2004.
Meanwhile, TPCC president Uttam Kumar described the event as politically motivated one and said TRS and BJP were behind these searches.
“IT & ED raids at @INCTelangana Working President @revanth_anumulas house is pure political vendetta to demoralize our strong MLAs. The people will teach KCR a lesson for being hand in glove with the BJP and the Central Govt. I severely condemn these politically motivated raids,” he tweeted.
Earlier in 2015, Reddy was caught by Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths while he was allegedly bribing Elvis Stephenson the nominated MLA with Rs 50 lakh for supporting TDP nominee Vem Narendra Reddy in Legislative Council elections.
“First it was @JaggaReddyT & now @revanth_anumula, this is a clear sign of KCRs cowardice. He has no capacity to take on any of our leaders & hence resorts to these backdoor moves. @INCTelangana will be united in its fight to rid Telangana soon of his autocratic & whimsical rule,” the TPCC president said in another tweet.
