The Madras High Court bench ordered issue of warrant to an Inspector for arresting a petitioner though the court had issued anticipatory bail to him in a criminal case.
The Court is Inclined to issue warrant to the Inspector to be produced before the Superintendent of Police of
Kanyakumari. Then the Inspector should be produced before the High court on March 21,” Justice K B K Vasuki said.
Petitioner Narayanan submitted the Inspector had registered a criminal case against him and his wife under
various sections of IPC for an offence allegedly committed on Jan 7 2013. He said his wife had borrowed some jewels from a neighbour and returned it. But the neighbour gave a false complaint against them that they returned fake jewellery after borrowing genuine gold jewel.
He submitted that both of them are innocent and sought anticipatory bail, which was granted. The court had also
ordered that they not be arrested till Mar7.
However he was arrested on Feb 20 and remanded to judicial custody. Hence this petition.
