Beirut, February 16: Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak says Israeli armed forces may cross into the southern Lebanese territory again and engage in a military confrontation with Hezbollah resistance fighters.
“Israel Defense Forces (IDF) may be called into Lebanon in the future,” Haaretz newspaper quoted Barak as saying on Tuesday during his first military tour with new IDF Chief Benny Gantz in the Granit brigade situated along the border with Lebanon.
Barak added that “we must be prepared for every test.”
He also claimed that Israel inflict heavy loss on Hezbollah during the 33-day war on Lebanon that killed about 1,200 Lebanese — most of them civilians.
Israel acknowledged its defeat to Hezbollah in the conflict in the Winograd Report.
