Israeli troops assault, arrest Palestinian worshipers at al-Aqsa Mosque

JERUSALEM: Israeli forces assaulted and attacked Palestinian worshipers inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque compounds in the Old City of occupied East Jerusalem.

According to Ma’an news agency, the incident happened on Tuesday morning, when groups of Israeli settlers entered the compound and attacked a group of Muslim worshipers who were sitting in a group and reciting the holy Quran.

The report further that Israeli forces detained at least 12 Palestinians from the Al-Aqsa mosque compound and took them to the Chain Gate detention center in the Old City.

Some of the detainees were identified as Assad Mifleh, Izz al-Din Zayyud, Muhammad Tafesh, Amjad al-Ashqar and Ubaida Ayish.

At least 50 Israeli settlers raided the compound via the Moroccans Gate, according to witnesses and claimed that the settler have called for more such raids to the compound during the last 10 days of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
