Israeli army gears up on Syria border

Jerusalem, December 04: The Israeli army is making military preparations along the Syrian border in face of recent developments in the neighboring country.

The Israeli military preparations spread along the Syrian border from the northern village of Majdal Shams, in the occupied Golan, down to the border with Jordan.

The Israeli forces have erected barriers along the border, removed obstacles and uprooted trees.

“I think Israel is afraid that what’s going on inside Syria could affect the cease-fire line now and they could see some kind of tension between Syria and Israel,” said Tayseer Maray of Golan for Development.

The Israeli army also has set up what they call a smart wall along the Syrian border which can track infiltrators.

“Israel is all the time preparing itself for war. It’s a state of war more than a state of peace in this area. They are blaming their situation here to prevent any popular demonstration against the Israeli occupation and the Golan like what happened on the Nakba Day and the Naksa Day,” Human Rights activist, Salman Fakhraldeen said.

“This is the idea of constructing this fence in the occupied Golan, but it’s not the solution. It’s only another step of the occupiers to protect themselves not more,” Fakhraldeen added.
