Gaza: After worst escalation in years, Palestinian organisation Hamas has agreed on a ceasefire with Israel following truce talks, mediated by Egypt. They said they would abide by the ceasefire as long as Israel did the same.

After the cowardly operation of the special unit of Israeli forces, in which 7 Palestinians including Hamas commander were killed, Hamas in retaliation fired over 400 rockets on Israel. This created fear and dread among Israelis.

The bombing by Hamas gave sleepless nights to Israel. Israeli defence system failed to stop most of the rockets fired by Hamas. Israeli newspapers also declared the operation by the special unit of Israeli forces a failure.

The al-Qassam Brigades also released a statement saying what happened was a failed operation and “a cowardly Israeli attack”. The group stressed that Israel was to blame for their reaction.
