ISM activities shot in head during a protest to mark the Anniversary of Balfour Declaration.

The protest was called on Sunday to commemorate the 97th anniversary of the

Balfour Declaration.

The Balfour Declaration is in favor of establishment of a national home for the

Jewish people, in Palestine, being clearly mention that

nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing

non-Jewish communities in Palestine.

On Sunday, during the protest at Qalandia checkpoint, an Italian ISM volunteer

was shot in the head with a rubber-coated steel bullet. Fortunately her left eye

remains untouched as the bullet passed two centimeters above her eye.

Giulia, the ISMer, stated, “I was just standing on the side of a street, and the

military was firing tear gas against the protesters. She further said “I was

photographing, suddenly then I felt that bullets have strike me, one in the head, and another

in my leg, and then all I could see was blood.”

At least one other Palestinian teen was hospitalized after being shot with a rubber-
coated steel bullet.

Giulia was immediately transferred to Ramallah Hospital for medical treatment,

after giving a first aid.

Israeli forces fired stun grenades, tear gas canisters, and rubber-coated steel bullets,

on people who attended the demonstration.
