Cairo, February 03: Amid the ongoing popular revolution in Egypt, an Iranian lawmaker says an “Islamic Middle East” is set to be established which will bring another failure to arrogant powers.
“Enemies of Islam were making efforts to establish a new Middle East planned by the occupying Israel. God willing, an Islamic Middle East is going to be formed, an issue which will be another failure for them,” IRNA quoted Ahmad Lotfi as saying on Thursday.
“The Egyptian nation’s movement is a firm response of Egypt’s freedom-seeking people to the global arrogance,” the Iranian lawmaker added.
He pointed out that nations are currently displaying their power against arrogant powers.
“The Egyptian nation’s movement is a message to other countries which support the United States and Israel,” he went on to say.
Lotfi said the Egyptian revolution proved the effectiveness of the Islamic Revolution’s message to the world and to the Middle East in particular “which led to the awakening of freedom-seeking nations and weakening of arrogant powers.”
Egypt has been the scene of revolution protests over the past ten days as the demonstrators are calling for the ouster of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
The protesters want Mubarak to end his 30-year dictatorship, saying protests will continue until he resigns, but the embattled president has so far defied widespread public calls for his resignation.
A report by the United Nations says at least 300 people have so far been killed and thousands more injured during the revolution in troubled Egypt.
