The 40th annual meeting of Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah will be held at Grant Hayatt Hotel, Kwalalampur, Malaysia. Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Ali, Chairman of IDB will preside over the meeting in which representatives from 56 countries will participate. Mr. Zafar Javeed, National Convener for India will represent India. Mr. Javeed told that a review of 40 years functioning will be made and a strategy for the next 10 years will be finalized. IDB was established in 1984 and so far it has funded 400 institutions. It is providing financial assistance to 28 more Muslim institutions.
The beneficiaries from IDB in Hyderabad include Sultan-ul-Uloom Education Society, Darusalam Education Society, Hyderabad Institute of Excellence, Madina Education Society, Muslim Educational , Social and Cultural Organization (MESCO), Al-Habeeb Engineering College and Princess Eisan Girls’ High School, Purani Havali. He further told that IDB is concentrating more on the Muslim NGOs which are not very active in Bengal, Assam, Bihar and UP.
