Islamabad: Kul Bhushan Jadhav’s wife and mother to reach Foreign Ministry

Islamabad: Former Indian Navy Officer Kul Bhushan Jadhav’s wife and mother have reached Islamabad amid tight security to meet him.

Former Navy officer was illegally detained by Pakistani officials in 2016 and since he is imprisoned in Pakistan.

After as many as 22 times in a row denying consular access to India, Pakistan authorities have finally granted consular access to his wife and mother.

According to Geo News, Pakistan Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has confirmed the news.

Jadhav’s wife and mother will immediately return back after meeting Jadhav via Oman to New Delhi. India’s Deputy High Commissioner J P Singh has accompanied the duo.

However, Pakistan Foreign Office clarifying earlier reports of consular access granted to India, Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said in an official statement no such access has been granted to India and an Indian diplomat accompanying Jadhav’s family does not imply Jadhav has been granted consular access.

According to news reports, tight security has been deployed outside Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry along with Pakistan Rangers, Anti-Terrorism squads and sharpshooters deployed on rooftops.

Only Media and security personnel are allowed in the area around Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad reported Pakistani media.
