New York: ISIS has claimed responsibility for the twin suicide bombings at the Baghdad markets on Sunday in which 16 people were killed.
According to CNN, the attacks occurred on the same day as anti-ISIS forces charged on the terrorist outfit’s stronghold in Mosul.
The first explosion happened when a driver blew up his explosives-laden vehicle at the Alwat-Jamila market in eastern Baghdad’s Sadr City, in which at least 11 people were killed and 25 injured.
In the second attack, a suicide bomber wearing an explosive vest blew himself up at a busy market in the eastern Baghdad neighborhood of al-Baladiyat, in the which the police said, that at least five people were killed, and 12 were wounded.
ISIS’ media wing, Amaq, claimed responsibility for both explosions in statements posted on Twitter, which also said that the attack targeted Shiite Muslims. (ANI)
