Ishrat, others killed to flatter Narendra Modi?

Mumbai,September 08:An embarrassing probe has revealed horrifying details of how Ishrat Jahan, the 19-year old student of Khalsa College, Mumbai, and the three others, who were proclaimed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives on a fidayeen mission to kill Chief Minister Narendra Modi, were actually gunned down in cold blood a day before they were actually shown as killed in a police encounter.

Gujarat Government is planning to challenge the probe. This is not the first encounter of its kind. Earlier, Sohrabuddin Shaikh and his wife were abducted and brought to Ahmedabad. Shaikh was gunned down and his wife Kauserbi killed because she was witness to the murder.

The enquiry by a city magisterial court has revealed that the Ishrat Jahan encounter that took place on June 15, 2004 did not happen at the time and place the police officially revealed. The encounter was staged managed by the then Ahmedabad police commissioner K. R. Kaushik, crime branch chief P. P. Pandey, DIG D. G. Vanzara and his men to flatter Modi for “promotions”.

The damning report that is likely to put pressure on Modi has named 21 cops, including retired DGP Kaushik, as the people behind the gunning down of innocent persons by branding them terrorists. Similar to the Shaikh case, the report says the crime branch “kidnapped” Pranesh Pillai alias Javed Shaikh and Ishrat from Mumbai and kept them in illegal custody.

Then IPS officer Vanzara’s men killed Javed between 8.30pm and 9pm on June 14, then gunned down the ‘Pakistanis’ Jisan Johar and Amjad Ali Rana, and close to midnight, it was Ishrat’s turn to get killed as “she was witness to the killings”, the report says.

Johar and Rana were Indians, not Pakistanis, the report says.
