Dabbling with unanswered questions and delving into an unsolved murder mystery, the trailer of Irrfan Khan-Konkona Sen Sharma starrer Talvar sets a gritty investigative tone for the film.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Talvar is inspired by the sensational murder of 14-year-old Aarushi Talwar and 45-year-old Hemraj Banjade, a domestic help in Noida, India on the night of 15-16 May 2008.
The two-minute-forty-second trailer shows Neeraj Kabi and Konkona as the parents of the deceased girl and Khan as an investigative officer handling the murder mystery.
Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj has written the movie which will have legendary poet-lyricist and Meghna’s father, Gulzar, writing the lyrics.
Khan, 48, took to Twitter to share the trailer along with a dialogue from the film.
Talvar, which also stars Sohum Shah, Atul Kumar and features Tabu in a special appearance, has been selected for world premiere in ‘Special Presentations’ section at the Toronto International Film Festival that runs from September 10 to 20. The movie has been shot by Pankaj Kumar of Haider and Ship Of Theseus fame.
Talvar, however, is not the first film based on the controversial double-murder-case. Rahasya, directed by Manish Gupta and starring Kay Kay Menon and Tisca Chopra that released earlier this year, was also based on the same murder mystery.
The film will hit theatres on October 2.
