Declaring Municipal Corporation a complete failure in facing emergency situation, former MP and senior communist leader Syed Aziz Pasha told that, the presence of 6 trucks of 5 zonal commissioners, proves that municipal corporation neither has manpower to cope up eventualities nor has machine power to provide relief to the citizens. He told this while speaking at a dharna programme staged at the central office of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation under Chalo GHMC programme conducted by CPI Greater Hyderabad.
He further said Municipal Corporation extorts crores of rupees by way of property tax, commercials tax and other taxes harassing poor and middle class people but fails to provide relief to common public in emergency situations. He told that due to heavy rain last week 72 colonies were destroyed. The officials who gave layout permission to the real estate mafia, to inhabit areas around rain drains, lakes and ponds are liable for this destruction.
