Minister for Industries and Mining K Taraka Rama Rao today said the State government will deal with iron hand against those resorting to illegal mining in the State.
The Minister made a surprise visit to a sand mining area at Kothapalli in Karimnagar district. He inspected the mining activity and interacted with the workers, drivers and sought to know about how they are mining the sand and shifting it to other places. The Minister rang up district officials, including SP and RDO and directed them to suppress illegal mining with stringent measures. “There shall not be any room for such illegal mining activity as the sand is a national asset meant for its own development”, he said, adding that the government will spare none involved in illegal mining and will punish them sternly.
KTR’s surprise visit to the district assumes significance as he did not inform the concerned officials. The minister also asked the officials concerned to coordinate and continuously monitor the sand mining activity and prevent illegal mining with iron hand. He asked them not to allow mining activity during nights to avoid problems. (NSS)
