IRCTC ties up with Chaayos to provide tea and snacks in trains

New Delhi : The steaming cup of tea, an inseparable part of any train journey, is going to be tastier and customised in choicest flavours with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) entering into a tie up with leading tea cafe chain Chaayos.

There is yet another welcome news for rail passengers. IRCTC has decided to give 10 per cent cash back offer on e-catering orders of over Rs 300.

The partnership with Chaayos will ensure that passengers get their tea and snacks delivered to their train seats directly.

Initially, the collaboration is for all trains at New Delhi station, and will soon be extended to other stations across Delhi and Mumbai.

Chaayos co-founder Raghav Verma said the partnership with IRCTC would be a great chance for people to get their favourite cup of tea even while travelling in trains. “We have developed an innovative method to deliver tea: our disposable kettles consist of a heat retaining pouch and an outer cardboard packaging, to ensure that the tea delivered stays hot for an hour,” he added.

Chaayos, which has 20 cafes in Delhi NCR and Mumbai, will offer many of its customized tea options such as Kulhad Chai, Adrak Tulsi Chai and Honey Ginger Lemon.

Passengers will have to order their tea two hours ahead of the train’s arrival time, which can be made on www.ecatering.irctc.co.in or calling a toll-free number (1800-1034-139). IRCTC has also launched a mobile app through which orders can be placed.

The company offers 25 varieties of tea that can be customized in over 12,000 ways. This ranges from desi chai with a variety of add-ons, to interesting teas like aam papad chai and hari mirch chai. There are also a variety of snacks on offer, like vada pav, keema pav, bun maska and samosas.

As for the e-catering cash back offer, it is valid only for meals booked through IRCTC and having a value of more than Rs 300 in a single order. The payment mode used for booking the meal should be pre-paid i.e. using the payment gateway (HDFC PG or Paytm) to avail the cash back offer.

The offer is not valid if the order is partially/fully cancelled and the booking amount is reduced to less than Rs.300. The cash back would be processed only after the delivery date. It would be paid into the same account through which the payment was made for the meal booking. The customer would be intimated once the cash back is processed by IRCTC.

Any queries regarding it have to be sent to customercare.ecatering@irctc.com or by making a call at toll-free No. 1323.

Very soon, the entire choice of Dominos who are already a part of “Food on Track” will also be available to customers on IRCTC’s e-catering website, which has been possible due to website integration of the two companies. (ANI)
