New Delhi, September 28: Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a Railway subsidiary, has posted over 16 per cent growth in its earnings during the last financial year.
The earnings could, however, take a hit in view of the latest catering policy which has stripped the PSU of its catering responsibilities.
Considered its core business area, the catering department fetched 97.5 per cent of its revenue.
According to the results of the 2009-10 financial year, which were declared today at the AGM of IRCTC, the corporation earned Rs 721.97 crore during the last fiscal, which was a growth of 16.7 per cent.
Its profit after tax stood at Rs 63.05 crore during 2009-10 as compared to Rs 46.50 crore in 2008-09 due to enhanced revenue and control on expenditure, said a statement issued by IRCTC.
The corporation has declared a dividend of Rs 12.
