Irate Hyderabad citizens fill potholes, name them after KTR

Hyderabad: Annoyed over authorities for their apathy towards the condition of roads, a group of Hyderabad citizens themselves took up the responsibility of filling up the potholes. A few residents of Secunderabad even fixed placards reading ‘Nirmala Sitharaman-KTR road’ on repaired potholes at the stretch between AOC Centre and Marredpally.

“We named it ‘KTR-Nirmala Sitharaman road’ because both GHMC and SCB only react when either an Ivanka or the defence minister comes to the city,” said Krishank Manne, a volunteer who took up the task. He added that the government and municipality are active on social media and by this move, they want to shame them.

A Times of India report quoted Archa KS, a resident of West Maredpally as saying that when the residents had complained about roads last year, they were told by authorities to wait for the rains to end, but no repair was done even after the monsoon. “Now, we are on the verge of expecting the next monsoon. We have no option, but to get out on the streets and do this,” he said.

In another past incident of shaming the government, the stretch between St John’s and Sangeeth Cross Roads was labelled ‘KTR-Ivanka Road’.
