Amman, August 03: A young Iranian girl has received the top award at the 5th international Holy Quran competition for women held in the Jordanian capital of Amman.
Fatemeh Abduli was ranked first for memorizing 20 chapters of the Holy Quran in the 5th edition of Hashimiya International Quran Competition, IRNA reported on Monday.
The four-day contest which officially began on July 22 brought together women contestants from 30 countries.
The participants competed in different categories including memorization of the Holy Quran, (whole, 20 chapters, 10 chapters) interpretation, and recitation.
Memorizing and reciting the Holy Quran is considered important for all Muslims irrespective of their sects.
Representatives from Kuwait and Jordan respectively received the second and third awards in the category of memorizing 20 chapters of the Holy Quran.
Furthermore, an Iranian male contestant Mahmoud Rangraz has taken part in the 52nd international Quran reading competition at the Putra World Trade Center held in Kuala Lumpur.
