New Delhi: Union Minister Smriti Irani today released the literary calendar of National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) depicting famous Urdu poets and writers.
‘The Literary Calendar 2016’ is adorned with the photographs of the legendary Urdu poets and writers of the last two hundred years along with the depiction of their dates of birth and demise.
“This really is a magnum opus of the Council. Such a startling calendar of the legendary poets and writers of Urdu language should be preserved by the Urdu departments of all the universities,” she said after releasing the calender.
She also described it to be such a picture gallery, which shows the photographs of the legendary Urdu writers.
Irtiza Karim, Director, NCPUL said a pictorial album will also be compiled and released for preservation of cultural and literary heritage of the country and to pay homage to the makers of Urdu literature.
“The present calendar is just a part of that series,” he said.
